Somatic Trauma Release

I have over ten years of experience working as a body based therapist, however my path to becoming a somatic trauma therapist is unique – as is the type of therapy I offer.

My first career was as a professional concert pianist (in England and then Israel) and music is a fundamental part of the way I view the world and the presence that I bring to the therapeutic space.

When my second baby was born, I chose to transition from music into a career in academia, studying for my PHD in Jewish Law at Manchester University. My academic interests were always wide and interdisciplinary and I have published papers on Jewish Rabbinic Philosophy, international law, and Jewish perspectives on contemporary issues in bioethics.

When my fourth baby was born, I changed careers again and trained as an Amno Fu massage therapist. I spent over ten years developing my own approach to releasing trauma stored in the body and I now bring the skills and experience I have gained in my varied career to the therapy space.

The reason I specialise in treating those going through life changes is – at least in part – because I have more experience than most transitioning from country to country, between different lives and careers and I bring that experience to support others going through life changes.

Type of therapy offered

Hands-on somatic trauma release. I developed this form of therapy by drawing on both Eastern and Western massage traditions, including Swedish massage and amno fu (abdominal massage). As a musician, turned therapist, my approach is unique in seeking to regulate the nervous system by locating nexuses of tension in the body and gently encouraging the body to release that tension – thereby creating harmony, resonance and balance in the body.

Approach

I am a hands-on somatic trauma therapist, so my approach focuses first and foremost on locating and releasing emotions that are stored in the body. I combine left- and right-brain approaches, working both intuitively and analytically to identify the root of blockages and trauma. Central to my approach is the importance of working gently and collaboratively with the client to support the client in letting go of emotions stored in the body and moving forward.

Who I work with

Therapists and other professionals in the care industry who are experiencing burnout/overwhelm. I work to release secondary trauma and tension stored in the body.

Professionals at transition stages in their lives (divorce/career change/menopause, etc.). My work focuses on supporting individuals to deepen their connection to their bodies and release emotions and tensions that are holding you back, particularly emotions that are blocking you from making big decisions.

Also, individuals who feel that they have lost contact with their inner compass/self or their spiritual connection.
